Portland Parents Union Holds “Restorative Listening Dialog on Pushout”

PPU, a member of Dignity in Schools is participating in the National Week of Action on School “Push-out”. We are calling for a national Moratorium on “out of school suspensions”.

The “Restorative Listening Dialog on Pushout” will be held Saturday, October 6, 2012 at Westminister Presbyterian Church, 1624 NE Hancock, Portland OR 97212. The event starts at 4PM with an news and informational session, and continues to 8:30PM with Students and Families sharing their stories and participating in a “Restorative Listening Dialog”

The public is invited to participate. Admission is free.

During the week of September 29 to October 6, the Dignity in Schools Campaign (DSC), a national coalition of more than 50 youth, parent, educator and advocacy organizations, is holding its 3rd Annual National Week of Action on School Pushout to raise awareness about the more than 3 million students suspended out-of-school each year and call on states and school districts to implement positive discipline policies that improve the learning environment and keep students in school. Members of the DSC will hold marches, rallies, teach-ins and trainings in over 20 cities throughout the week.
