A Toast for Inclusion

by Alicia DeLashmutt

In December we hosted our 2nd annual Toast to an Inclusive and Civil Society at the Bad Habit Room in North Portland. Nearly $5,000 was raised to help support the 2013 / 2014 class of the NWDSA Kindergarten Inclusion Cohort which consists of families that have children that will be eligible to enter kindergarten in the fall of 2014. I want to thank each and every person that attended, called or mailed in their support. This is truly a grassroots effort to fund this 4-year old amazing program. Come to think of it, our KIC will be eligible to attend kindergarten next year as it will be our big number 5! WOW! Thank you’s go out first and foremost to our dedicated party attendees, the Bad Habit Room that has been so gracious and fun to work with for the last two years, our beer, cider and wine providers, as there wouldn’t be a party without you, Double Mountain, Pfreim, Rev. Nat’s, Portland Pairing’s Wine Shop, and Fort George Brewery. In addition, this year we were lucky enough to have amazing raffle and silent auction prizes that valued well over $2,000 from many of our local and favorite businesses. Hope to see you all next year! Cheers!
